Placing your documents on a central server / NAS delays the deployment of a robust and stable solution. Network shares use lock files to keep anyone else from editing over your current edit. They essentially inhibit the possibility of working together on the same set of data.
Our solution provides a soft lock to the particular section that you are editing and only that. If you are away from the keyboard or forgot to log out, then it is also possible to take over your editing.
If my computer catches fires, how am I going to restore from a backup?
All crashes happen one day before the backup, as they say. Depending on the backup solution your company employs, your data could be recovered – however, wouldn’t it be better to have a centralized and off-site backup happening in the background, in a sort of “config and forget” way?
